Convinced? Here's how to switch.

Five simple steps. About 25 minutes. No accountant needed — but if you want one, they can help with step 4.

1

Export your data from your current app

5 min

Most accounting apps have an export option in Settings or Reports. You want a CSV of your transactions — usually labelled 'Transaction list', 'General ledger', or 'Bank transactions'. If you have contacts and invoices, export those as separate CSVs too. Don't overthink the format — GoldMate reads just about anything with date, description, amount columns.

  • Transactions CSV is the only must-have
  • Invoices + contacts are bonus — can add them later
  • If you're unsure, export everything as CSV — we'll help sort it
2

Upload the CSV to GoldMate

2 min

Create your GoldMate account (14-day free trial, card required upfront). Go to Import CSV in the sidebar. Drag your transactions CSV into the drop zone. GoldMate auto-maps the columns and previews every row before committing — nothing imports until you click Confirm.

  • Preview shows auto-categorised transactions
  • Adjust categories in bulk before confirming
  • Re-import later if you need to pull in older data
3

Add invoices and clients

10 min

If you export invoices + clients as CSV from your old app, drop them into Invoices > Import. Otherwise, just add your current unpaid invoices manually — it's usually a handful. Paid invoices from the past aren't strictly needed unless you want historical reporting.

  • Focus on unpaid first — that's what you chase
  • Historical paid invoices can stay in the old app as archive
  • Invoice numbering continues from where you left off
4

Verify BAS + tax figures match

5 min

Open /bas and cross-check the GST figures against the last BAS you lodged. They should match within a few dollars (rounding differences are normal). If they don't, your CSV import probably missed something — come back to step 1 and export again with a wider date range.

  • Compare GoldMate's G1 total to your last BAS G1
  • Differences > 5% = check your CSV date range
  • Aurum AI can explain any discrepancy
5

Cancel your old subscription

2 min

Only do this AFTER you've verified everything imported correctly (usually by day 3-5 of your trial). Most apps let you cancel via Settings; some make you email them. Export a final backup of everything first — keep it on a hard drive for 7 years (ATO record-keeping requirement).

  • Keep a final export for 7 years — ATO rule, not GoldMate's
  • Cancel after your trial is past day 3 — you'll have verified the data
  • Some apps bill annually — time your cancel around renewal

Stuck on any step?

We'll help you import. Email hello@goldmate.auwith your current app name and we'll send specific export instructions within 24 hours.

Or use Aurum AI in-app — it knows how to read most common export formats and can flag issues before you commit the import.
